One-Click 15-Factor Apps, Governed

Internal developer portals are good at scaffolding new services. They are much worse at what happens next, as those services drift from standards and accumulate debt. This live session builds a next-generation developer experience on a customized Backstage platform, where one click provisions a production-grade 15-factor Spring Boot microservice end to end: OAuth2, observability, an OpenAPI spec, Jenkins CI/CD, Helm deployment to Kubernetes, and TechDocs. Open Policy Agent then governs the service after deployment so it stays compliant over time, with GenAI tooling wired into the platform.

CodeMash 2026

Who Moved My Mug?

What happens when Spring AI meets a Raspberry Pi, a camera and a pinch of GenAI? You get a small agent that sees, thinks and reacts in real time. A Pi-attached camera captures the scene, Spring AI describes it in natural language, and changes get detected and acted on. Close to zero budget, motion detection with no extra sensors, and no external API keys, because the models run locally and no data leaves the network. This is the work behind Gizmo Guard.
