Fourth Quest

Services

Practical engineering pointed at your problem. Eight practice areas, and engagements that start small and well-defined: evaluate an idea, assess a prototype, reduce a risk, or validate an approach before committing to something larger.

Enterprise Architecture

Planning to rebuild, refactor or replace? We run a thorough as-is assessment and give you a target state with a credible path between them, whether that is a legacy monolith heading toward microservices, or a third-party system you need evaluated honestly before you commit to it.

Platform Engineering

Paved roads that teams actually choose to use. We build the platform layer underneath your product teams: runtime, delivery, observability and the standards baked in, so shipping the right way is also the easy way.

Developer Experience (DevX)

A one-stop shop for Dev-Sec-Ops: all tooling, services, tech radars, product catalogs and documentation unified into a single platform with a consistent UI. Self-service provisioning so teams stop waiting on tickets, and application scaffolders with your standards and best practices already baked in.

DevSecOps & SRE

Robust CI/CD pipelines with security controls built into the pipeline rather than bolted on at the end. We set up the delivery machinery and the operational practice that keeps it healthy once we are gone.

Cloud Native Architecture

Cloud-native applications and microservice architectures, covering REST APIs, web services, messaging and streaming, built on Java and Spring Boot, running on Kubernetes and Tanzu. Plus migration roadmaps and strategy tailored to your cloud provider.

AI Engineering

Applied AI, not slideware. We build Java and Spring AI applications using Spring ecosystem design principles such as portability, modular design and POJOs as building blocks, and we work with local and edge models where data cannot leave your environment.

Rapid Prototyping & R&D

We research and de-risk new technology by building proofs of concept, so your team can stay focused on the core stack and the roadmap while the exploratory work happens in parallel.

Technical Advisory & Code Review

Expert review that goes past what SonarQube can tell you: design, structure, failure modes and the decisions behind them. Also available as an ongoing architectural second opinion for teams that want one.

How we engage

Start small, prove it, then scale

We would rather earn the next phase than sign you to a long one up front. Most work starts in one of three shapes.

01

Assessment

A fixed-scope review of what you have, covering architecture, code, platform or delivery, ending in a written findings document and a roadmap you own.

Typically 2–4 weeks
02

Proof of concept

We build the risky part first, whether that is the integration, the model or the platform spike, so the decision to go further rests on working code rather than estimates.

Typically 4–8 weeks
03

Embedded engineering

We work alongside your team on delivery or platform build-out, and we transfer what we know as we go. The goal is that you do not need us afterwards.

Ongoing, reviewed quarterly

Who you actually work with

Fourth Quest is deliberately small. There is no bench and no handoff to a delivery team you have not met. The person who scopes the work is the person who does it, with two decades of building systems at Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, GE, Cardinal Health and ADP behind it.

Not sure which one you need?

Most conversations start with a problem, not a service line. Describe what is going wrong and we will tell you whether we are the right people for it.
